PLEASE send us an e-mail confirming if your group, or any person in your group, is participating in the Work-for-Rent program and will be moving in on the date listed. If the first person moving in is after that date, please let us know that also. Otherwise, your move in date will be the date listed on your lease agreement.

Top 2 Questions we receive:
#1 - Q. Can we move in earlier than what is listed?
Answer: You can request an early move in date but whatever is listed is when the unit will be ready. The dates are updated frequently when scheduling of carpet cleaners, painters, repairmen is completed. We are in the process of assessing what replacement items need to be done and any major repairs. We can't make big adjustments to those dates until this is completed. Classes do not begin until August 29 this year. Keys will be left on the kitchen counter and the unit will be open at 10am on your move in day.

#2 - Q. Can we store some of our furniture in the unit early?
Answer: Unfortunately we can not honor such request, because that will hinder our carpet cleaners, painters and other repair crews. In addition, we can not always properly secure the unit during those times. We can not make exceptions to that rule.

PLEASE READ ALL THE INFORMATION BELOW:

Mandatory Tenant Meeting
There will be a mandatory tenant meeting in your unit with the landlord a few days after all tenants of the unit are moved in. Your exact meeting time/date request should be discussed amongst all tenants and we will try to accomodate your request. The meeting will only take about 20 minutes. Everyone must attend! This includes tenants who currently live in the unit and have a few new roommates moving in. Please make plans to be available during your scheudled time. The topics of discussion will be (1) Damage reports collected (2) Parking passes and mailbox keys (3) General care and operation of the unit (this is very important). (4) All questions/concerns can be answered at this time. It would be helpful that you save all of your non-emergency type questions for this meeting.

 Mail
Please insure that you notify the post office of your new address.  A change of address form can be obtained from the post office in Kent, or you can fill out the change of address form online at www.usps.com.  Do not have your mail forwarded before the move in date.  Your mailing address is on your lease agreement.  Mailbox keys will be given to you at the mandatory tenant meeting.

 Utility Changeover (for only those units that are NOT All-Inclusive)

1. First Energy ( Ohio Edison Electric) – You can go to their website to order new service ( www.firstenergycorp.com ). Go to “customer care” link, then “move in” link. On the application, the Energy Usage choices should reflect the water heater and heat as GAS operated. Everything else either N/A or electric. Service start date should be 8/26. They need a 7-day minimum notice to schedule start of service.

2. Dominion East Ohio (Gas) –800-362-7557. Service start date should be 8/26. They need 10-day minimum notice to schedule start of service. https://www.dom.com/customer/moving.jsp

3. City of Kent Water Depart. -DO NOTHING WITH THIS. This service has been esatblished by landlord and bills will already come to the unit.

4. Phone (Optional) – There are different local and long distance phone providers in the area. One of the most popular is Alltel ( www.alltel.com ). You may choose whichever provider you like. Please take note that phone service connection in a college town in August is almost always backed up 3-4 weeks. Call on this early.

5. Portage County water Resources Sewage and Recycling – There is nothing you need to do here. This bill will automatically come to you every 3 months ($110.05 for 3 months).

All Tenants (Inclusive and Non-inclusive):

Cable & Internet (Optional )- You can call Time Warner (local cable provider), to establish those services. We suggest you call them IMMEDIATELY as they were backed up 3-4 weeks last year and some students did not get Internet or cable until September because they waited.
